NORWEGIAN DANCE – FANITULLEN: Solo for euphonium. Written for Chris Robertson. The music is deeply inspired by Norwegian folk music, especially by composer Geirr Tveitt. Fanitullen is Norwegian folklore about a man playing the violin, so people danced and went mad. He is often portrayed as the devil.
Fanitullen is the 4th movement from the suite “Our Hidden Language” commissioned by the Brighouse & Rastrick Band for Brass In Concert Championships 2018. The full suite won the prize for the best new composition.
